Keep It Simple Mac Wallpapers Be Organized

I love front end web development. I love software. This is simply a list that marries the two, and it’s for mac users only.

Sublime Text 2 – Amazing text editor vital to the coding process.

ImageAlpha (THE best png optimising tool I’ve ever used).

iTerm 2 – Great terminal app that extends the boring old terminal.

MAMP – Yes, sometimes you have to render php and mysql!

Github app – only if you just can’t handle the command line/terminal.

SourceTree – Wonderful diff and merge app.

Evernote – Save code snippets and retrieve them anywhere you have internet.

VirtualBox – to then run…

IE8 – for testing. Test IE8 as early on in the project as you can.

Homebrew – (which also installs Rails and dependencies) – So you can run SASS!

Compass – So you can Compass power your SASS!

ColorMaker – the best Mac color creation and organising app.

Extra Credit:
NodeJS – so you can install…

CSSLint – Run the CSSLint.com app locally on one or more css files.

Respond.js – When your media queries simply must work in IE.

Helium – Test your development website for unused CSS selectors using javascript

And an even more comprehensive list here.

I'm a Front End Web Developer passionate about usability. My primary specialties are HTML5, CSS3, SCSS, LESS, and jQuery and I am very familiar with Foundation and Bootstrap frameworks. I've worked on top of and with WordPress, Shopify, Rails, Python, and ASP.net/Umbraco frameworks.

  1. I would use GIST for code snippets 😉 … As for documentation I just use Google Apps … As for Git/SVN I have used Tower/Versions both nice apps … All in all very nice list.
